NEW COLLECTIONS

Harking back to simpler, happier times, Happy Valley evokes the rustic themes beloved of some of the great British ceramic designers of the 1920s and '30s. The name has a strong Orkney connection: Happy Valley is a secluded glen filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, lovingly tended over decades by a lone crofter.

CLOUDBERRY
Inspired by Japanese silk printing, as featured on beautiful kimonos and other highly decorated yet elegant fabrics. Splashes of colour from Swarovski crystals complement the crisp shapes of leaf and flower.

RED ROSE
Bold but beautiful flower shapes, stylised to give a sense of movement: falling like petals at season's end in the earrings, bursting out in exuberant bouquets in the large pendant and brooch.

TIDE
Harking back to simpler, happier times, Happy Valley evokes the rustic themes beloved of some of the great British ceramic designers of the 1920s and '30s. The name has a strong Orkney connection: Happy Valley is a secluded glen filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, lovingly tended over decades by a lone crofter.

CELTIC SECRETS

Autumn/Winter 2007

Ola Gorie is delighted to announce the launch of five new collections for Autumn and Winter 2007.  Offering a wide choice of styles, they are all distinguished by the trademark Ola Gorie delicacy and inspired design.

All five collections are available in gold and silver.  Like all Ola Gorie jewellery, Celtic Secrets, Cloudberry, Red Rose, Rosebud, and Tide are true Scottish originals, made in our workshop in the Orkney Islands.

CLOUDBERRY
At first glance delicate and fine, Cloudberry nevertheless has a strong, almost sculptural presence. Named for the elusive berries that grow on sub-arctic moors, and - very rarely - in the Highlands of Scotland, Cloudberry is equally rare and desirable.

RED ROSE
In 1902, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh created "The White Rose and the Red Rose", an enigmatic gesso panel featuring ethereal female figures and stylised blossoms. These stunning lockets capture the beauty and mystery of her Art Nouveau masterpiece.

TIDE
Simple yet elegant lockets, patterned like an Orkney beach as the tide ebbs.

CELTIC SECRETS
Unique, beautiful and romantic: three modern interpretations of Celtic knotwork in a collection of lockets and matching earrings. Here's what makes Ola Gorie a real Scottish Original: a talent for taking ancient inspiration and making it fresh and exciting.

A look that nods to the classics of Art Deco design, Garbo is inspired by the pleats and folds of rich draped fabric. The necklet is also available in a stunning wire option in both gold and silver. Several pieces in the collection are pearl set.

BIRDLAND
Honeysuckle chimes with current trends for natural motifs in jewellery and accessories. Stone-set pieces come in a choice of blue topaz , pink sapphire and diamond.

HAPPY VALLEY
Harking back to simpler, happier times, Happy Valley evokes the rustic themes beloved of some of the great British ceramic designers of the 1920s and '30s.  The name has a strong Orkney connection: Happy Valley is a secluded glen filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, lovingly tended over decades by a lone crofter.

KIMONO
Inspired by Japanese silk printing, as featured on beautiful kimonos and other highly decorated yet elegant fabrics.  Splashes of colour from Swarovski crystals complement the crisp shapes of leaf and flower.

PETAL-FALL
Bold but beautiful flower shapes, stylised to give a sense of movement: falling like petals at season's end in the earrings, bursting out in exuberant bouquets in the large pendant and brooch.

BIRDLAND

Birdland, an elegant eight-piece collection, features birds in flight across a northern sky. The collection’s centrepiece is a stunning pendant combining silver, gold and (the must-have material of the summer) mother of pearl. Available in gold and silver (with some mixed metal options.)

FLOWERLAND

Flowerland is a fresh, contemporary take on a favourite Ola Gorie theme – close observation of nature. Inspired by lazy days in the summer garden, Flowerland is bursting with blossoms and butterflies. Available in gold and silver (with some mixed metal options.)

FLOW
The Orkney Islands are surrounded by the cool, crystal-clear waters of the North Atlantic. As the tides ebb and flow across the sandy shore, intricate patterns of great delicacy and beauty are left behind. A wander along the shoreline on a crisp spring morning reveals this flowing, curling tracery. The name also nods to Scapa Flow, the great natural harbour at the heart of the Orkney archipelago.

KYOTO
One of our most successful collections of 2005 was Kimono. We have expanded and reimagined that collection: instead of tiny and charm-like, Kyoto is bigger and slightly more dramatic. It retains the same crisp, slightly stylised imagery that made Kimono such a hit, but focuses on leaves rather than flowers.
